The Minister of Justice announces that Mikheil Saakashvili filed a complaint from the Strasbourg court

According to Minister of Justice Rati Bregadze, ex-president Mikheil Saakashvili's health condition was not really a threat to his life, which was confirmed by the Strasbourg court on May 11, 2023, when the convicted Saakashvili was refused to be transferred to Poland for treatment.

Bregadze announced this at today's briefing.

"For the purpose of informing the public, we would like to inform you that on April 25 of this year, the European Court of Human Rights sent a message to the Ministry of Justice, which is accompanied by a letter from the convicted Saakashvili regarding the rejection of his appeal by the Strasbourg Court. In a letter dated April 18, Saakashvili's lawyer notes that currently Saakashvili's health condition is not life-threatening. The European Court asked the Ministry of Justice to comment before May 10, if any. We sent a corresponding reply today, in which we note that his health condition was not really a threat to his life, which was confirmed by the Strasbourg court itself on May 11, 2023, when the convicted Saakashvili was refused to be transferred to Poland, in particular, to a Warsaw clinic for treatment. Also, we asked the European Court of Human Rights to inform us of the fact of excluding the case from the list of pending cases", said Rati Bregadze.
