Ministry of Internal Affairs: 14 individuals were arrested, one employee of the Ministry of Internal Affairs was injured at yesterday’s rally

The Ministry of Internal Affairs arrested 14 individuals under Articles 166 and 173 of the Code of Administrative Offenses during yesterday’s rally.

According to the agency, as a result of the violent actions of the protestors, one employee of the Ministry of Internal Affairs was injured, who received appropriate medical assistance.

“The employees of the relevant structural units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs have been mobilized for several hours in Tbilisi, on Rustaveli Avenue, in vicinity of the parliament building, in order to ensure public order. As a result of the violent actions of the protestors, one employee of the Ministry of Internal Affairs was injured, who received appropriate medical assistance.

The law enforcement officers repeatedly called on the organizers and participants of the protest to follow the legal requests of the representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, not to exceed the limits defined by the law on freedom of assembly and expression. Participants of the rally did not take legal requests into consideration, violated public order, offered resistance to the law enforcement officers and verbally insulted them, which was followed by the arrest of 14 individuals under Articles 166 and 173 of the Code of Administrative Offenses”, reads the statement released by the Ministry.
